Parent Coach & Resource Facilitator

Sometimes it can be difficult to know where to start to find help. The primary role of our Parent Coach & Resource Facilitator program is to offer support to parents during those difficult times.  The Coach/Facilitator will partner with guardians and young people to connect them with the most appropriate community treatment resources. The Parent Coach teams with each youth and guardian to identify and reduce any barriers they may encounter that make it difficult for them to receive the care they need when they need it.

It can also be difficult to know how to parent through some of these struggles. The Parent Coach can also help parents explore evidence based parenting strategies that can reduce conflict and support their youth. 1 to 1 coping skills for youth and/or 1 to 1 parenting sessions to improve communication and develop skills to manage emotions may also be offered. If necessary, these services may be delivered in the community to facilitate access. For some people services will be limited to helping parents/guardians and youth connect with treatment resources. For others it may be most helpful for the coach to meet with parents to develop parenting plans with the youths’ struggles in mind.

The Coach/Facilitator can remain in contact with the family to ensure that they have been able to connect with the necessary resources, and will be available to respond to any problems encountered in that process.

Referrals are made through a community partner or self referral. Call (519)-258-0484 and ask for intake.
